LoadLess ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
By using our App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our App.
3. How We Use Your Information

- Account Management - Creating, maintaining, and managing your user account
- App Functionality - Providing chore management, shopping list, and house/group collaboration features
- Notifications - Sending push notifications about chore assignments, due dates, completions, and house activities
- Gamification - Tracking experience points, levels, and earned rewards to enhance user engagement
- Security - Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, security threats, and unauthorized access
- Improvement - Analyzing usage patterns to improve app features, performance, and user experience

4. Data Sharing
4.1 With Other Users
To enable collaboration features:
- Your chores and shopping lists are visible to other members of your house/group
- Your name and activity (chore completions, level ups, rewards) may be visible to house members
- You can control what information is shared by managing your house memberships
4.2 With Third-Party Services
OneSignal (Push Notifications)
We use OneSignal to send push notifications to your device. We share:
- OneSignal Player ID (device identifier)
- Device information necessary for notification delivery

4.3 We Do NOT Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We only share data as described in this policy to provide our services.
5. Data Storage and Security
5.1 Storage Location
Your data is stored on secure servers. Our servers are located in Germany
5.2 Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- Encryption in Transit - All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Encrypted Password Storage - Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text
- Secure Authentication - JWT tokens with expiration for secure session management
- Access Controls - Authentication and authorization mechanisms to restrict data access
- Secure Backend - API keys and security tokens stored securely in environment variables
5.3 Data Retention
- Account Data - Retained until you delete your account
- User-Generated Content - Retained until you delete it or delete your account
- Logs - Retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes
- Deleted Accounts - All associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access - Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Right to Deletion - Request deletion of your account and all associated data (right to be forgotten)
- Right to Correction - Update or correct your personal information at any time
- Right to Portability - Export your data in a machine-readable format (JSON)
- Right to Objection - Object to certain processing activities, such as push notifications
- Right to Restrict Processing - Request that we limit how we use your data
How to Exercise Your Rights in the App
- Access Your Data - Use the "Export Data" feature in your profile settings

- Delete Your Account - Use the "Delete Account" option in your profile settings
- Disable Notifications - Turn off push notifications in your device settings or app settings
7. Children's Privacy
Our App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@loadless.app. We will take steps to delete such information from our servers.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.
8. Push Notifications
Push notifications are optional and can be enabled or disabled at any time. We use push notifications to:
- Notify you about new chores assigned to you
- Remind you about upcoming chore due dates
- Alert you when chores are completed by house members
- Notify you when new members join your house
- Celebrate level-ups and achievements
You can disable push notifications by:
- Turning off notifications in your device settings
- Disabling notifications in the app settings (if available)
- Uninstalling the app will also stop notifications
Disabling notifications will not affect other app functionality.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors.
When we make changes, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- Post a notice in the App for significant changes
- Notify you via email if the changes materially affect your rights (if you have provided an email address)
Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the App and delete your account.
